Once upon a time long, long ago, lived a beautiful Girl Named Dwynwen. She was 1 of 24 sisters (her mum and dad must have been busy/at it like rabbits!)
Dwynwen fell in love with a very hot guy called Maelon Dafodrill (think Christian Grey), but unfortunately her father had already arranged that she should marry someone else (damn it! don't you just hate it when that happens!). Well, Maelon got mad and turned into a real bad man (i'll let you use your imagination for this part), he took advantage of Maelon and they wan't even married!! eek!
In her grief Dwynwen fled to the woods (by foot, she didn't have a super car like Anastasia Steel), where she begged 'God' (think Simon Cowell) to make her forget Maelon. After falling asleep, Dwynwen was visited by an angel, who appeared carrying a sweet potion designed to erase all memory of Maelon (absinth?) and turn him into a block of ice. (wish i had that power)
'God' then gave three wishes to Dwynwen. First she wished that Maelon be thawed, second that God meet the hopes and dreams of true lovers and third that she should never marry. All three were fulfilled, and as a mark of her thanks, Dwynwen then devoted herself to God's service for the rest of her life. (hmm could she be otherwise known as Sinitta?)
Remains of Dwynwen's church can be seen today on the island of Llanddwyn, off the coast of Anglesey.
Also situated on the island is Dwynwen's well, where, allegedly, a sacred fish swims, whose movements predict the future fortunes and relationships of various couples. Visitors to the well believe that if the water boils while they are present, then love and good luck will surely follow. ooh and if maybe you decide to go for a visit one day, maybe you can pop by Will's & Kate's house for a cuppa ;)
