Finding the perfect dress for your big day is always going to be tricky (as you may have read in our interview with bride Fiona). It's hard to find a dress which is both affordable and beautiful...you know, the one that gives us the feeling that it's just right. Unfortunately I'm not here to give you the secret to finding that dress, but I am going to show you a few that were showcased at the SS14 Bridal Shows to give you a little inspiration while you're looking for it. There could have been millions, but I've picked my top 5 favourites for you to have a little look at...

1. Not exactly traditional, but who is nowadays? This dress by Claire Pettibone is so beautiful that I think if I saw it on a bride I would cry with jealousy. That's pretty much all you want on your wedding day. I love that this dress is sophisticated and girly, with a splash of colour of the floral print

2. Shorter length dresses are on trend for 2014. Although the short number by Pronovias probably wouldn't impress your parents (or your parents-in-law), the detailing is stunning and very Gatsby-esque - great if you're looking for a glamorous dress.
3. Cap sleeves are the key to making your wedding dress a little bit different this year. After a long craze of covering your arms on your wedding day since Kate Middleton wore a long sleeved Alexander McQueen gown on her big day, bare arms are back. This Reem Acra gown is traditional and stunning.

4. Although a little more minimalist than some of the other gowns seen at the Bridal Shows, this dress by Elizabeth Fillmore is still so noticeable with the flash of antique lace that catches your eye. I can just imagine this dress being worn for a beach wedding somewhere sunny...somehow I can't imagine bare arms in Wales just yet!

5. Overlays on your wedding dress add warmth and look pretty. This would be perfect for a Winter wedding as it's elegant, with a touch of glitz. I can see this Jenny Packham gown on a vintage loving bride too!
