Not even the
snow could stop Blue Monday from invading our week with depressing
thoughts. This is the day that makes Christmas' dreams fly to a place
far far away. The cold has come to stay and all of a sudden your New
Year's resolutions are starting to sound a bit impossible to achieve,
but most importantly, this is the day that makes you wonder whether
or not you should start stressing about your wedding day... Well, you
know what they say: if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail! So
we gathered a set of wedding planning tips to help you scare away
this Monday's blue thoughts.
As we were
saying last week, when it comes to weddings it is always better to
think ahead. Book a meeting with your favourite stationer as
soon as possible - that will save you time, allowing you to work on a
design that you are truly comfortable with, will save you paying for
last minute express delivery fees, and will certainly save you a lot
of worries.
After you
take care of your save-the-dates it is time to think about the
invites.
Invitations
should be sent out (at the very latest!) 10 weeks before the wedding.
That way you'll be able to gather the RSVPs, call guests that haven't
replied and give your caterer the final head-count with plenty of
time in advance.
Be
creative, but remember: less is more! We love it when our couples
get bold and creative. In fact, we are the first ones to suggest
different font sizes and shapes. However, there's nothing worse than
receiving a great looking invite that you can't read. Don't worry,
we'll make sure that doesn't happen to you!
Check,
double-check, and check again. "Oops, I thought your
mum's maiden name was spelt with an "e"!" Spare
yourself a lot of stress and make sure you pass the correct
information to your stationer. Double-check the name of the venue,
your in-laws surname, the church address and even the dates. I'm sure
your stationer will be as obsessive about proof reading as you: in
cases such as these, two pairs of eyes are way better than one.
Become
best friends with your postman. If you have a track record of
postal nightmares and are terrified about the idea of trusting your
bridal happiness to the Royal Mail, it's time for planning! Visit
your local post office armed with a notebook and fire away all your
questions and doubts. Ask them the amount of stamps your invites
should have, maximum weight, delivery and tracking options...
As you see,
when you plan ahead there is nothing to feel depressed about!
