Feeling
nervous, stressed and afraid on your wedding day is perfectly normal. That's why it is so important to know that you
can count on your "gals" for support, for a laugh or even
for a steady supply of "liquid serenity".
We
know that deciding on your bridesmaids can be a bit tricky. Brides
make this decision based on friendship, on family politics or even on
money - let's not forget that sometimes being a bridesmaid can be
quite expensive.
So,
to help you through this difficult task we've put together a little
questionnaire that will help you to decide what kind of bridesmaids
you want by your side. Just try to picture how each one of your
friends/family would react in these situations:
1.
When asked to be your bridesmaid she'll say:
- Of course! When do you want to go dress hunting?
- Wooohoooo! We should celebrate!
- Cool. Do I need a licence for that?
- OMG! I can't breathe. This is huge. I have to loose weight.
- Depends on the dress.
2. After a morning of intense dress-hunting she'll say:
- I wrote down your favourite ones, but maybe it's best to have a break. What do you say about a nice long lunch?
- Wooohoooo! We should celebrate!
- Hey guys do you know that scientists have discovered a food that really reduces sex drive? Its called wedding cake!
- What if we can't find the right dress??? I need some air.
- Dress hunting? No thank you.
3. During the hen party she will:
- Stay sober and make sure everyone gets home.
- Try to the best of her abilities to throw you an unforgettable party!
- Go along with the party but she'll probably space out and get lost at some point during the night.
- Be a riot! With all that dieting, half a drink will be enough to get her dancing on the table tops.
- Say she'll meet you for drinks later because she already has dinner plans.
4. On your wedding day she'll look at you and say:
- You look absolutely beautiful.
- Wooohoooooo this is going to be the best wedding ever!
- Wow, far out!
- I can't believe you look skinnier than me.
- When does this thing start? I have to be somewhere in like two hours!!
If your friend scored:
Mainly A - She has been there and done it. Experienced bridesmaids
may not be the most fun, but they are definitely the most helpful and
will always know exactly how you feel. A is always a good choice.
Mainly B - She will always find reasons to celebrate. It is good to
have someone positive around in case things don't go according to
plan. However, it might be difficult to get things done if all of
your bridesmaids are party-animals. One or two won't hurt though!
Mainly C - She is The Dude from The Big Lebowsky. Maybe her
jokes are bit off, and her social skills aren't as sharp as you'd
wish but, despite all of her apathy, I bet she couldn't be happier
for you. Besides, this kind of bridesmaid doesn't get easily hurt by
bridal tantrums - that's a definite plus!
Mainly D - She is a bit of a drama queen. Despite their best intentions, some bridesmaids can come across as egocentric. If you
aren't calm by nature maybe this is not the kind of person you want
to have by your side. However, if you think that having a stressed
bridesmaid around will help you to focus on the task in hand, then
you have a winner.
Mainly E - There's only one reason this person made it to your
bridesmaids shortlist, and that reason is called "your mother".
There will always be a cousin, a long-lost niece, or the daughter of
your father's boss. If you can't do anything to avoid them, well,
better not think too much about it - just grin and bear it!
