Here at
Something Kinda Cute we love colours, but we also know that sometimes
it can be difficult to pick them. The truth is that defining a colour
pallet will help you to keep the decoration, the stationery, the
dresses and the overall mood of your big day under the same theme. So
here are a couple of tips that will guide you towards finding the
perfect colours for your wedding!
I have
so many favourite colours, where do I begin?
You can get
inspiration for your colour scheme from various places. Here are a
few examples: 1. think about colours to which you feel particularly
attracted and mix them using online tools such as kuler
(check out the amazing colour matching tool!); 2. consider your venue
and study it - sometimes the venue location or its architectural
features can help you to find your colours; 3. think about your
favourite flowers - if you are particularly fond of poppies maybe you
could incorporate red in your scheme either as the predominant tone
or as an accent; 4. get inspiration from the season - nature itself
can be a great inspiration!
Now
that I've found my colours how do I know they match my ideas?
Professional
designers normally use mood boards to convey ideas and concepts. A
mood board is a collection of textures and images that can be used as
a reference point to plan your wedding's overall mood. Start with a
base surface, preferably a rigid kind of card, and decorate it with
photos and pieces of fabric. As your composition grows you will be
able to determine whether or not your ideas and colours work
together. Or, if you would rather not get gluey fingers, you can
always resort to digital composition tools like the wonderful
Pinterest.
Have fun
playing with colours!
