I've always
been crazy about postcards. Vintage, hand-painted, hand-drawn, photo montage,
handtinted or even lithographed, a postcard is not only a great way
to communicate, but it also adds charm and depth to each message.
Postcards can encapsulate feelings, memories and even history in a
single image. They're pretty magical.
For me they
are also great sources of inspiration, especially the vintage ones. That's why today I've been burying my nose inside these little
beauties I found in the library: Postcards by Martin Parr and
A postcard history of the passenger liner by Christopher
Deakes. These awesome books reminded me of some of the vintage postcard-themed wedding
invitations we've done in the past. They were always great fun to make and they looked amazing after printing!
Would this
be the right look for your wedding stationery?
If you're a
postcard nerd like us take a look at this amazing
postcard-deconstuction project launched by Uppercase magazine back in
2009. Today I also feel like "modifying, manipulating, cutting,
pasting, adorning... transforming a postcard into something curious".
